Eli's Construction Cake

My nephew, Eli, turned 3 over the weekend. He wanted a "dirt truck" cake, aka dump truck cake.

There are always things about a cake I would change after I finish. For example, after I iced the bottom tier yellow, I wishes I had iced it blue and then I could have made some fondant clouds and trees for a scene look. Oh well, maybe next time, right. At any rate, Eli liked it and that's what counts!

Bowling for Cake

I loved this cake (I mean really, is there a cake I don't love?). It was for Ethan's 8th birthday. He had a bowling party, so a bowling cake was only fitting.

After some trial and error, I finally committed to making the bowling pins our of a gum paste/fondant mixture. I tried them with rice krispies too and was not successful. The bowling ball is rice krispies covered in fondant.

What's inside? Chocolate cake filled with very chocolate icing.
Yum and yum!

Giant Ice Cream Cream Cone Cake

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!

I loved this cake! It was for my sweet friend's super sweet daughter, Ava. This cake might be the biggest endeavor I've taken on yet...literally. It weighed 12 lbs and stood about 15 inches tall. I didn't really mean for it to be so big, it just kind of happened that way.

And here's a picture just to give a little perspective of how giant this thing was here is an actual cone sitting beside the cake.

What's inside: Yellow cake with vanilla caramel butter cream icing. The "scoop" of ice cream is rice krispie treats.

A Couple of Funnies

My husband's birthday is on April 1st...that's right, I married a fool! Really though, my mother-in-law jokes that she really did think the Dr.'s were playing an April Fool's joke on her after she gave birth to a 10lb baby! Wow! Glad our babies didn't get his size!
Anyway, here are his last two birthday cakes. They certainly were fun and entertaining to say the least!

St. Patty's Day Cake

This was a cake for an office celebrating several March birthdays, so I choose a St. Patty's Day theme. It was fun to incorporate all those names in one cake.

Happy First Birthday!

This was one of my biggest projects yet. My friend Kelly asked me to do this for her son's first birthday. She designed the cake and I carried it out. This one of super difficult, but really stretched my skills. I loved it!

What's inside? Almond sour cream cake filled with butter cream icing and covered in marshmallow fondant. It was heavy!

Construction Cake

Every little boy loves construction vehicles, or in my own little boy's words, mighty machines!

What's inside? Chocolate and yellow cake, filled with raspberry mousse and frosted with butter cream icing.

The Giant Cupcake

I wish I had more orders for the cake because it is so cute and fun! I made this cake for a special 7 yr old's birthday celebration. I even made coordinating cupcakes. This was my very first time working with fondant...good thing I've had bunches of practice since then!

Super Hero Cake

I love this cake...it was made for my special little Super Hero! Asher wanted a Batman, Spiderman and Hulk cake-all his favorite Super Heroes! This was super fun to make.

What's inside? Chocolate and yellow cake filled and frosted with buttercream icing.

Happy 60th Birthday!

This one is a special cake...for my Daddy on his 60th Birthday!

He requested chocolate cake and boy, did he get chocolate cake!

What's inside? Chocolate cake filled with chocolate icing and frosted with chocolate ganache. Is your mouth watering? It should be!

Pea in a Pod

I made this cake for my sweet cousin Amanda's baby shower, who is having a baby girl in October. I love the simplicity of this design and those little peas in the pod. It was butter cake with cream cheese buttercream frosting.
